Should MS Dhoni focus on Ishan Kishan instead of Rishabh Pant in the T20 World Cup

Ishan Kishan played a swashbuckling fifty against England in 1st warm-up game for Team India.

Rishabh Pant or Ishan Kishan, who is the right candidate to become Team India’s main wicketkeeper going ahead in the future. A picture has gone viral on social media in which MS Dhoni is giving tips to Rishabh Pant before the warm-up match against Australia. But, the question arises whether he is training the right guy for the wicketkeeper slot of Team India, or is this the right time to prefer Ishan Kishan at least in the shorter format of the game.

Ishan Kishan has taken long strides to the Indian team on the back of his blistering knocks and fantabulous wicketkeeping from behind the stumps. He has done a brilliant job for the state and IPL team in the recent past. He didn’t had a great IPL season with the bat. But, he made a remarkable comeback in his form with the bat in the latter part.

Is MS Dhoni giving tips to wrong candidate

Ishan Kishan was on fire with the bat in the warm-up game against England and he slammed swift 70 runs at a strike rate of 153. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant has shown a glimpse of a star in the making. But, he is yet to find consistency with the bat and gloves. The problem with Pant is that he fails in performing well with the bat for a long period. He did well in the Test series against Australia and England. But, he merely failed to produce the expected impact with the bat.

Now, Team India is set to open their campaign in the T20 World Cup with MS Dhoni as their mentor assigned by BCCI. The current squad has two wicketkeepers including Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant. Now, the big question arises, who will play in the marquee event for Team India.

However, if we have to pick based on the current form then Ishan Kishan is the right candidate to take up the wicketkeeper slot of the Indian cricket team. Let’s see how this mega-event unfolds for Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan going ahead.
