Ajinkya Rahane Rates His Ton Against England At Lord’s In 2014 As His Best Test Knock

India registered emphatic Test series win in Australia in the absence of their main skipper Virat Kohli, who left Australia after the 1st Test. Indian Test side lost the services of their star players like Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav due to injuries in between the series.

Ajinkya Rahane was appointed as the temporary skipper in that series. And, he did a brilliant job leading the side from the front. The middle-order batsman was given the responsibility at the time when Team India was struggling in the series as they were down by 1-0. Also, the team was low in confidence as they were coming in the 2nd Test after suffering a humiliating defeat in Adelaide.

Ajinkya Rahane exclusive interview raises several questions

From that point, Ajinkya Rahane successfully led the national side to a historic Test series win against Australia that will be remembered for years to come. However, things have changed with Ajinkya Rahane as he has been dropped from the red-ball side of India due to consistent poor run with the bat. He is now set to play in Ranji Trophy in order to gain his batting form.

Now, after a year Rahane has come up making some shocking comments in his latest interview. The star Indian cricketer said that he never got credits for what he did in Australia. Rahane opined that he deserved a lot more than he ever got for what he achieved in the year 2021.

“I know what I’ve done in the Australia series and that’s not my nature to go out there and take credits. Yes, there were a few decisions that I had taken, but someone else took the credit. Important was for me to win the series,” he said.

The right-handed batsman also asserted that people often tell him that his cricket career is over. But, he doesn’t give much weightage to such criticism and he knows what he has done for India over the years in red-ball cricket.

“I just smile when people says my career is finished, people who know the sport don’t talk like that – everyone knows what happened in Australia/even before it, my contribution in red ball – people who love the sport will talk sensibly,” said Rahane.
