And again, he showed to the cricket world why he is the best. He justified the decision by scoring centuries, while playing as an opener in the Tests for the first time in his career.

In the first match which held in Visakhapatnam, Rohit had a significant contribution in the two innings. With Mayank Agarwal, he opened the first innings with an attacking mode and scored 317. The century was a very quick one made just by playing 133 balls. Rohit was so vigorous and on the peak of his batting form.

In his first Test match as an opener, he gave his best effort to obtain a very strong score for his team and made the task easy for his teammates. With the support of his team leader and management, he will try the harder to make his batting position permanent in the Test cricket team.

Now, we are focusing on three records hold by former openers of Indian cricket which can be rewritten by Rohit Sharma.

#3 Most sixes in an innings

Rohit is known as the machine of hitting sixes. When he appears in his full form on the playground will be the worst day of the opponent team. Even he holds the record of scoring maximum sixes in T20s. Definitely, he would be delighted to have another similar record in Tests as well.

The current record is owned by Navjot Singh Sidhu. As an Indian cricketer, he made the record of hitting the most sixes in a single innings. The match was held at Lucknow against Sri Lanka in 1994 and in that match, he hit 8 sixes and earned 124.

Rohit as an opener, was almost about to break the record in the first innings as he scored six sixes. In the second innings, he did better and hit seven sixes. Though he could not touch the record, but the hope is still there and he proved his ability.

On the other hand, he broke another record of Wasim Akram of holding most sixes in a Test match. Wasim Akram had 12 sixes while Rohit hit 13 sixes in the First Test and surpassed the previous record.

#2 Fastest Hundred

Currently, there are a few prominent cricketers in the international platform who are capable of smashing centuries in every format of cricket. One of them is obviously Rohit Sharma, who will make through the list. This amazing player has the record of scoring four centuries in T20s international and In ODIs 3 double centuries as well. No other player has the record like him. In T20s he made the quickest century by hitting just 35 balls.

With this eminent performance and confidence, he can grab the record of the fastest Test century as an Indian batsman as well. The present record is held by honorable Kapil Dev. As an Indian cricketer, he scored the fastest century against Sri Lanka by playing only 74 balls.

His fans are eagerly waiting for their favorite right-handed batsman to break the previous record and make a place for himself as the fastest century holder by an Indian cricketer.

#1 Highest score

Rohit Sharma is always known for his aggressiveness in the match. He is never satisfied with a mediocre score. Big scores and Rohit Sharma in international cricket come hand in hand. He already had three double centuries in ODIs. We are already habituated of watching him having huge scores with spectacular shots. His journey as an opener in Test cricket is new but he will do everything for sure to make his performance remarkable. Maybe he will make new records or break several old ones.

Scoring runs in Test matches is a little bit easier if the position is set and the condition is favorable. The batsman just needs to look for opportunities and send the ball in between the gaps. Rohit has been already an expert in playing limited over. So, he will enjoy the unlimited chances of smashing big runs successfully in Test cricket.  In the Vizag Test, he appeared very positive and confident though he was facing troubles while playing the seam bowling.

Rohit has already made an image of a big scorer, so in Test career, he can engrave the level higher by hitting highest score and achieved another record. The present highest score of 319 is held by Virender Sehwag. He has the ability to cross the mark as well.
