Good news for Indian cricket fans as Virat Kohli is set to play for Team India in the ODI series vs South Africa. The former skipper even took a dig over the reports that said he was not going to play in the limited-over format series against Proteas. He also opined that the services of Rohit Sharma in the ODI series will be really missed.

Virat Kohli was sacked from the ODI captaincy and Rohit Sharma was picked as the skipper by BCCI for the South Africa tour. There were reports that he had a rift with the Indian opener. But, now Kohli himself has cleared out everything in the press conference before leaving for the South Africa tour.

Virat Kohli says he had no prior information about him getting sacked from ODI captaincy

The Delhiite revealed that he was told about getting sacked from the captaincy at the end of team selections for the Test and ODI series against South Africa. The star player even mentioned that he was not informed about the same before the meeting. However, he is fine with how he was informed about his sacking.

“I was contacted one-and-a-half hour before the Test team was selected. There was no prior communication. The chief selector discussed the Test team. And in the end, I was told that I won’t be the captain and I said it’s fine. After the meeting, we had a brief chat and that’s it,” said Kohli on his ODI captaincy.

Indian Test captain also mentioned that Rohit Sharma will not be available for the Test series against South Africa. He added that the way Rohit performed in the Test series against England was brilliant and his services will be missed. Meanwhile, he also asserted that this is going to be a great opportunity for the players like Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul to impress everyone with their batting.
