Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in the 5th Match of IPL 2022. MCA Stadium in Pune will host this fixture on March 29 at 07:30 pm. Rajasthan will be led by Sanju Samson while Kane Williamson will captain the Orange Army.
Last year Sunrisers finished at the bottom of the points table with just three wins in 14 matches. After having a horrendous campaign in IPL 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad would be hoping to turn the tables around and start their campaign this year with a win. Coming to Rajasthan Royals, they are on the same boat as SRH as they won their maiden IPL title way back in the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008. Their performance has seen a steep decline as they have failed to reach the playoffs in the past three years.
Whereas for this edition, SRH has completely revamped the squad with only Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik as their retained players. Abhishek Sharma is likely to open for them like the last year probably alongside Rahul Tripathi. Skipper Kane Williamson along with wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram is most likely to bat at No.3,4 and 5 respectively.
They will be followed by all-rounders Abdul Samad and Washington Sundar, who will also handle the spin department. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik are expected to add more firepower with their pace.
Talking about the Royals, under Sanju Samson they have a strong and balanced squad. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal will form the opening duo. With Jos Butler, Sanju Samson, and Shimron Hetmyer following them. R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal form a lethal spin bowling option as the Pune pitch could turn out to be quite fruitful for the spinners. The pace bowling lineup should feature Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult, and Prasidh Krishna.
