UP Warriorz kick-started their Women’s Premier League (WPL) campaign in supreme fashion as they beat Gujarat Giants by 3 wickets. They handed the Gujarat team their second loss on the trot in the ongoing tournament. Now one of the batters of UP Warriorz who hogged the limelight was Kiran Navgire.

Kiran played beautifully and scored 53 runs in the game in just 43 deliveries. Her innings was packed with 5 fours and 2 sixes. In an elegant fashion, the right-handed batter powered her side to a victory.

Kiran Navgire was born in Solapur

Kiran Navgire was born in Solapur, which is a prominent city in Maharashtra. While she has two brothers, her father is a farmer and her mother is a homemaker. Kiran Navgire has always been inclined towards cricket and first played cricket when she was studying in the Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Even without any formal coaching and formal training, Kiran Navgire played cricket and excelled in it.

She is the only Indian to have crossed the 150-run mark in T20 cricket

A very interesting anecdote about Navgire is that she is only Indian to have crossed the 150-run mark in T20 cricket. She set the stage on fire when she scored 162 runs while playing for Nagaland against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022. She absolutely smeared all the bowlers all across the park and left an indelible impression on everyone in the women’s cricketing fraternity.

Kiran Navgire scored the fastest 50 in the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2022

Navgire once again hogged the limelight after she scored a blistering knock of 69 runs in just 34 balls and also scored the fastest 50 in the history of the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2022. She was playing for the Velocity team in that tournament.

She is a jack of all trades

Kiran Navgire didn’t just restrict herself to cricket during her University days. She also partook in athletic events such as shot put, javelin throw and 100 metres running and impressed one and all in those tournaments.

If groomed properly, she can go on to represent India at the highest stage and prove her mettle and skills.
