Hardik Pandya Might Have told Indian Selectors To Not Consider Him For Test Series Against Australia: Virender Sehwag

Date:

Virender Sehwag is known for his vocal nature in international cricket. Recently, he mocked Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for performing poorly in IPL 2020. Now, he has pointed towards a fact that Hardik Pandya himself would have told that he is not going to play in the Test series against Australia.

The 27-year-old is one of the best all-rounders in India. But, a back injury in September during the T20I series against South Africa saw him out of Team India. He marked his return to international cricket with the ODI series against Australia. Also, he played in the T20I series and performed remarkably well with the bat. However, he didn’t bowl much throughout the white-ball series. In 2nd ODI, he bowled only four-overs when Men in Blue were struggling to get back into the match.

Hardik Pandya Can Win Tests For Team India: Virender Sehwag

The management feels Hardik Pandya is one of their main players. And, he should not aggravate his injury once again. This is the reason why the Indian all-rounder has not bowled regular overs for Men in Blue. Now, he is expected to travel back to India as he is not part of the Test squad. And, Virender Sehwag feels that it might be Hardik Pandya’s choice of not playing in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

The former Indian opener said that if he was fit to bowl overs then he should have been picked in the Test squad. He also added that once Hardik Pandya gets fit then he will play an important role in Team India. And, the Indian all-rounder has the caliber to win games for the side with bat or ball.

“If he was bowling, then he would have been a part of the Test team. It is possible Hardik Pandya might have told the selectors not to consider him for the Test matches as he is not bowling fit and that he will only play in the ODIs and T20Is and that he will join back his family,” Sehwag said.

“But no doubt when he starts bowling, he will be a crucial part of the Test team. Because of the manner in which he bats in ODI cricket or T20Is, imagine if he starts scoring those quick runs at No.6 or No.7 in Test cricket, India will be in a good position to win Test matches.” Sehwag added.

India vs Australia Test series is all set to begin from December 17 in Adelaide with a pink-ball game.
