Watch: Mark Wood Gives Double Blow To New Zealand, England Makes A Strong Comeback In 1st Test

Mark Wood, the lanky England pacer came to rescue his side and gets a breakthrough. The right-handed pacer back-to-back blows to New Zealand. He dismissed settled Henry Nicholls and BJ Watling. But, Devon Conway is turning out to be a big obstacle and the England side will look to send him back to the pavilion as soon as possible.

New Zealand lost their top three batsmen comprising of Tom Latham, Ross Taylor, and Kane Williamson in cheap. None of the batsmen managed to click good knocks with their willow. England bowlers might have thought of taking a front seat in the game. But, Kiwi opener Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls had some other plans.

The duo stitched a record-breaking partnership of 172 runs for the fourth wicket in the 1st Test. Henry Nicholls was batting with full compassion and played a major role in rescuing his side from early setbacks. He played a resilient knock of 61 runs before Mark Wood sent the southpaw back to the pavilion.

The pacer bowled a short-pitched delivery and Henry Nicholls, who was batting with determination, lost his cool and tried to take areal root. But, he failed in getting the bowl on the bat due to which he was caught by Ollie Robinson.

In the 101 over, he gave another setback to New Zealand by dismissing BJ Watling, who just took the field after Nicholls dismissal. He bowled a peach of delivery and the batsman failed in judging the bounce and ended up giving an easy catch to Dominic Sibley.

Currently, New Zealand is batting at a score of 293 runs for a loss of 5 wickets. Devon Conway is batting at 166 runs and Colin de Grandhomme is yet to open his account in the game
