Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has been nominated for the Arjuna Ratna award for the 2nd consecutive time. BCCI has recommended the name of Ravi Ashwin and Mithali Raj for the Arjuna Award to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Every year Ministry of youth and sports Affairs gives awards to the players for their deemed contribution in the field of sports. This year BCCI was supposed to submit the list of players by 21st June. But, due to COVID-19, the last date for the submission of the list was extended and they have finally recommended the players to the Ministry of Youth and Sports affair.

A close source said that they had a detailed discussion on which all players should get the national award. They have recommended the name of women cricketer Mithali Raj for the Khel Ratna award. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah will be awarded the Arjuna award.
“We had a detailed discussion and it was decided to send in the names of R Ashwin and women’s Test and ODI skipper Mithali Raj name for the Khel Ratna. We are recommending Dhawan again for the Arjuna while we will also suggest the names of Rahul and Bumrah,” the source said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports affair has also come up with a list for Rajiv Gandhi award winners that comprises Manika Batra, Rohit Sharma, Vinesh Phogat, Rani Rampal, and Mariyappan Phangavelu
