The premier domestic tournament of India, the Ranji Trophy has begun with a bang. Some exciting action has already unfolded and we have seen some stunning 100s, 5-wicket hauls, and now, some exemplary fielding performances as well. Abhishek Porel of Bengal took a stunning one-handed catch while doing the wicket-keeping duties for the Bengal team.

Bengal is presently playing with Uttar Pradesh in their first Ranji Trophy 2022-23 game. Abhishek Porel is a part of the Manoj Tiwary-led Bengal side. In the first innings, Karan Sharma led Uttar Pradesh and posted 198 runs on the board.

Ishan Porel breathed fire with the ball and bagged 5 wickets. Shivam Mavi who was batting on 4 was dismissed courtesy of a screamer of a catch by wicket-keeper Abhishek Porel.

Porel dived to his left and left the entire team stunned as he pulled off the catch with precision. The ball was bowled by Pritam Chakraborty. A full-length dive from Porel ensured that the catch was taken and that Shivam Mavi was shown the way to the dressing room.

In the 2nd innings, the Uttar Pradesh bowlers bowled extremely well and bundled out the Bengal side for 169 runs. Abhishek Porel was the second-highest run-scorer for Bengal as he scored 33 runs in 23 balls. His innings were packed with 7 fours.

Shivam Mavi got his share of revenge as he bowled exceptionally well with the red cherry. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler bagged 6 wickets and wreaked havoc on the pitch.

In response, Uttar Pradesh scored 227 runs and set a pretty formidable target for the Manoj Tiwary-led side. At the time of writing this article, Bengal is batting at 41-1. Shivam Mavi has dismissed opener, Abhishek Das.

Sudip Gharami and Koushik Ghosh are presently at the crease and Bengal needs 216 more runs to win. They still have 4.5 sessions to chase the target. Uttar Pradesh on the other hand needs a special performance from the bowlers as they need 9 wickets to win.
