Asian Games 2022: India Advance To Semis After Scintillating Ton From Yashasvi Jaiswal

Date:

Team India began their Asian Games 2022 men’s cricket campaign on a high with a 23-run victory over Nepal. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the cynosure of all eyes as he smashed a fantastic century in just 49 deliveries in Hangzhou.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India were clinical from the word go. They put on a humongous total of 202 runs on the board after some quality contributions from India’s middle-order.

Earlier, Nepal had steamrolled past minnows Mongolia by 10 wickets in their group-stage game and were pretty confident ahead of this game. But the class and expertise of India’s second-string side proved to be too hot to handle for Nepal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a magnificent knock

As predicted by KhelTalk experts before, Yashasvi Jaiswal is well on course to becoming the leading run-scorer in this cricket competition at the Asian Games. His knock of 100 runs was laced with 8 fours and he clobbered the Nepalese bowlers for 7 sixes.

Jaiswal played with a scintillating strike-rate of 204.08 as he raced towards his maiden T20I hundred.

Rinku Singh once again ruled the roost

Famed swashbuckling batter Rinku Singh once again dominated proceedings with a fiery knock of 37* runs in just 15 balls. He smashed the opposition bowlers for 2 fours and 4 sixes and was simply outstanding.

Shivam Dube too joined hands and scored 25* runs in 19 balls with 2 fours and 1 six under his belt.

For Nepal, Dipendra Singh was the sole performer with 2 wickets in his kitty. He was quite economical and conceded 31 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

India bowlers outclassed the Nepalese batters

Despite Nepal trying their level best to scale the heights set up India, they faltered in front of some disciplined bowling from the Indian bowlers. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi picked up 3 wickets each and it was the final nail in the coffin of Nepal’s batting.

Arshdeep Singh too played well and despite being a tad expensive, he bagged 2 wickets in this quarter final game of the ongoing Asian Games 2022.

India now have advanced the semi-finals, which will be played on 6th October 2023 at the same venue in Hangzhou.
