The Asia Cup 2023 was an exciting tournament that witnessed some of the best cricketing teams from Asia lock horns with each other. Ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the Asia Cup 2023 became a very important and high-voltage tournament.

India lifted the Asia Cup 2023 title on 17th September 2023 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo after crushing aside Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. The Rohit Sharma-led side were absolutely clinical and comprehensive throughout the tournament and stamped their authority in this multi-nation tournament.

India had plenty of positives from this tournament. From Shubman Gill getting back into form to Kuldeep Yadav wreaking havoc with the ball, India looks very strong ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Senior cricketers in the form of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli too are back in form and India would fancy their chances in the upcoming World Cup at home.

In the finals, India absolutely decimated their opposition, Sri Lanka. India had a stunning display in the finals and outclassed their opponents by 10 wickets. After bowling Sri Lanka out for a paltry score of 50 in the first innings, India chased down the total with ease and comfort in just 6.1 overs, without losing a single wicket.

The defending champions Sri Lanka couldn’t defend their title as they succumbed to a humiliating and disappointing defeat at the hands of India.

Notably, this was India’s 8th Asia Cup win and they would be pretty happy and confident after their remarkable win in Colombo. A win of this stature would certainly boost up their confidence levels ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which will be taking place from the next month.

This win was also India’s biggest ODI win in terms of balls remaining. A total of 263 balls were remaining in the 2nd innings when India gunned down the total of 51 runs. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan and opened the innings and had finished the job with perfection.
