The Bangladesh Premier League is currently underway, and thus far it has been a thrilling event. Despite some outstanding cricketing moments, the league has also not shied away from stirring up a number of issues. Khaled Mahmud, the coach of the Khulna Tigers team and a former captain of Bangladesh, is the newest person to enter a BPL controversy.

Khaled Mahmud was spotted smoking a cigarette in the dugout during a game between the Khulna Tigers and Fortune Barishal on live television. The video has already gained widespread popularity despite the BPL league’s failure to issue an official statement on this or any sanctions for a behaviour violation.

Social media users have been sharing a video of the incident in which Mahmud can be seen smoking close to the dugout. As soon as the veteran noticed he was being recorded, he took his hand away from his mouth.

Khulna Tigers ended their BPL campaign with a thrilling win

Coming to the match, Khulna Tigers defeated Fortune Barishal in a thrilling victory on February 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka to round off their Bangladesh Premier League 2023 season.

The first team to bat, Fortune Barishal, scored 169-8 in their allotted 20 overs. With the bat, Dwaine Pretorius stole the show as he scored the game’s highest total of 48 from 29 deliveries. Mohammad Saifuddin, a cricketer from Bangladesh, was the star of the show for Khulna Tigers, finishing with figures of 4/20 from his 4 overs.

Habibur Rahman also returned undefeated at 30, from just 9 deliveries, as Tigers needed 169 runs to win in response. Habibur hit a four and a six on the second and third balls of Fortune Barishal captain Mehidy Hasan’s final over, giving the Tigers the 9 runs they needed to win.

With 3 balls remaining and 6 wickets in hand, the Khulna Tigers successfully surpassed the target. Mahmudul Hasan Joy led Khulna in scoring, slamming 64 runs off only 43 balls in an inning that featured five fours and two sixes.
