Ben Stokes to miss IPL

In order to lead his team in the single Ireland Test and get ready for the Ashes series against Australia, England Test captain Ben Stokes is scheduled to skip the IPL 2023 playoffs. The IPL 2023 season is scheduled to begin on March 31 with the final taking place in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 28.

More than representing their country, T20 franchise cricket appears to have attracted the players. They even choose to forego their national obligations to play for the T20 teams, while England Test captain Ben Stokes made the decision to choose his country over the IPL.

Ben Stokes, the Test captain of England, stated on Wednesday that he will allow himself enough time to get ready for a special test match against Ireland at London’s Lord’s Cricket Ground. Stokes will therefore probably miss the final rounds of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL).

In addition to Stokes, there are seven more English players participating in the IPL 2023, and five of them are part of the Test team. The IPL 2023 will include Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran of the Punjab Kings, Joe Root of the Rajasthan Royals, Mark Wood of the Lucknow Super Giants, Jofra Archer of the Mumbai Indians, and Harry Brook of the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Ben Stokes was bought by CSK

At the IPL 2023 auction, Chennai Super Kings paid a staggering price of Rs 16.25 crore for Stokes. The English all-rounder last competed in the lucrative competition in 2021 after appearing in 43 games across five IPL seasons. In Rajasthan Royals’ opening match of the IPL 2021 season, Stokes broke a finger. After having surgery to cure the injury, he took a break from playing competitive cricket and missed the entire IPL 2022.

The Indian Premier League 2023 season will begin on March 31 and conclude on May 28. Meanwhile, the Test between England and Ireland will begin on June 1. The one-off Test against Ireland will give players a chance to practise using the red ball and adjusting to the English weather before the crucial Ashes, which begin on June 16 in Birmingham.

In order to prepare for the Ashes, Stokes stated his teammates’ plans for the lone Test against Ireland should take into account their workload from the five Tests against Australia they would play at home..

When questioned about his plans for the Ireland Test, Stokes responded, “Yes, I will play”. Before to the second Test, which begins against New Zealand on Friday, the England skipper was speaking to the media in Wellington.

Ashes is bigger than that game against Ireland

Stokes extended his incredible Test captaincy record to 10 wins in 11 matches since taking over as full-time skipper as England destroyed the hosts by 267 runs in the first Test in Mount Maunganui.

“I’ll probably get round the individuals and ask them what they want to be ready for for the Ashes, because those five games are obviously the big ones of the summer, and you’ve got to think about what lads want.

“But what if something was to happen in that game [Ireland] and we lose someone for the Ashes … It’s just one of those where you have to weigh up the options of what the individual person actually wants out of that week, versus do we really need to play that one. Because, obviously, I’m right in saying that series is bigger than that game against Ireland,” he added.
