Indian Squad For Sri Lanka Series

For three ODIs and three T20Is, Sri Lanka will visit India. On January 3, 2023, the series’ opening game will take place. Sri Lanka, the defending Asia Cup champions, will be India’s opponent, however, the team lineup has not yet been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to speculations, BCCI will probably reveal the Indian team on December 27, 2022.

The team for the Sri Lanka series will be revealed by the disbanded selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma. All of the selectors will communicate remotely this evening because they are all on the Ranji Trophy assignment.

For the ODIs, Bumrah and Jadeja are expected to return. Even yet, Rohit faces a tight deadline to be ready for the ODI series. In the T20s, Hardik Pandya is also set to take the lead. After taking a break after the NZ series, he is already at the NCA.

“Rohit is yet to be 100% and we don’t want to take any risk when it comes to injury. Jadeja and Bumrah are back at the NCA. Their prognosis is good. If they clear the fitness test, they will be eligible for selection. But considering the workload in ODIs, it is only natural that they will return in the ODIs. T20s are not our focus currently,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Will Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja return?

According to a few reports, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are likely to get match fitness and may play again in this series. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) is the only party with authority over the situation, and they will have the last say.

They will undoubtedly be taken into account if the NCA grants them fitness certificates. Given the situation following the T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya might be given the captaincy responsibilities. It’s still unclear whether Rohit Sharma will play in the series, so it will be intriguing to watch what course the BCCI decides to follow.
