The two players who have a strong on-field rivalry and are regarded as the best hitters of the modern age, are Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. Babar is now ranked first among batters in the 50-over format and third in Tests and T20 Internationals. In contrast, due to a rare dry stretch in his stellar cricket career, Virat Kohli is far further down the pecking order.

Kohli struggled to get among the runs despite working hard during India’s tour of England last year. Babar was scoring runs in all three formats at the same time, all over the world.

Babar Azam thinks it’s critical for athletes to help one another out when things become rough. In order to demonstrate sympathy for his on-field competitor and wish him luck, he publicly tweeted the phrase “This too shall pass” for Virat Kohli on social media.

Babar believes that professional athletes have a common understanding and that it is essential for them to support one another when things get tough.

“This too shall pass. Stay strong,” Babar had then shared a photo of him and Kohli, which quickly became a meme fest.

The former India skipper had also acknowledged Babar’s support on Twitter. “Thank you. Keep shining and rising. Wish you all the best,” wrote Kohli.

Pakistan skipper discussed the viral tweet

Pakistan’s captain talked about the trending tweet in an interview with ICC Digital Insider Zainab Abbas recently. The tweet, according to Babar, was made in good humor and with sympathy for Kohli, with whom he wants to keep up their on-field battle.

“As a sportsperson, anyone can go through such a time. At that time I thought maybe if I tweet it might give someone help and confidence. See, as a player, you try to back every sportsman in a difficult time.

It is in difficult times when you get to know what you are thinking about others. At that time, I thought I should have done that and maybe something positive will come out of it. Something which can be a plus point,” Babar told ICC Digital.

    Virat’s return to his form

At the time, Kohli was on the England tour and had gone more than a thousand days without recording a century in any sport. In 2019, Kohli’s century against Bangladesh was his most recent.

However, he took a break after the England tour until regaining his mojo at the Asia Cup 2023, where he smashed his sole century in T20Is to date against Afghanistan.

Virat Kohli returned to form in white ball cricket with an outstanding effort after a difficult stretch. He hit an unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan in September 2022, and since then, he has amassed three ODI hundreds.

In a standout effort, he also hit 82 runs in Melbourne’s ICC T20 World Cup 2022 match, helping his team defeat Pakistan under the captaincy of Babar Azam.
