Esports has been making vast strides in entering the mainstream sporting world. The Olympic Esports Series 2023 is an international virtual and simulated sports tournament that was developed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in conjunction with International Federations (IFs) and video game companies. The Olympic Esports Series will take place in the year 2023. Here are all the details of the Olympic Esports Series 2023.

Olympic Esports Series 2023 Sports Included

The nine sports which are confirmed games will be as follows:

  • Archery (World Archery Federation, Tic Tac Bow)
  • Baseball (World Baseball Softball Confederation, WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS)
  • Chess (International Chess Federation, Chess.com),
  • Cycling (UCI, Zwift)
  • Dance (World DanceSport Federation, JustDance)
  • Motor sport (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, Gran Turismo)
  • Sailing (World Sailing, Virtual Regatta)
  • Taekwondo (World Taekwondo, Virtual Taekwondo)
  • Tennis (International Tennis Federation, Tennis Clash)

Beginning today, professional and amateur players from all around the world are welcome to participate in qualification rounds across a variety of featured games. This is officially the start of the Olympic Esports Series 2023.

Olympic Esports Finals 2023

Players will have the chance to advance to the Olympic Esports Finals 2023 at the conclusion of the Olympic Esports Series 2023. It will include live, in-person finals for the first time. The final action will be a highlight of the previously revealed Olympic Esports Week 2023. It will take place from June 22 to June 25 at Singapore’s Suntec Centre.

The players will battle it out in front of spectators for the coveted title of Olympic Esports Series champion after gathering in Singapore for this special competition. The finals will be broadcast worldwide on Olympic social media networks including Olympics.com.

The Olympic Virtual Series has been improved upon with this new framework for the IOC’s virtual competition. The 2021 series was held prior to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. It drew more than 250,000 competitors from 100 different nations.

As outlined in Olympic Agenda 2020+5, the Olympic Esports Series 2023 is another milestone in advancing the growth of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement. It also carries on its collaboration with the gaming and esports communities to generate new possibilities for competitors and spectators.

Statement by IOC Esports Chairman

David Lappartient, Chair of the IOC Esports Liaison Group, spoke during the announcement. He stated: “The Olympic Movement brings people together in peaceful competition. The Olympic Esports Series 2023 is a continuation of that, with the ambition of creating more spaces to play for both players and fans of elite competition.

We look forward to witnessing some of the world’s best compete on the global stage, as well as exploring together shared opportunities and lessons – across health and wellbeing, training and innovation.”

This comes in the wake of the most recent declaration that Singapore would host the inaugural Olympic Esports Week in 2023. The four-day festival was organized in collaboration with Sport Singapore, the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), and the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth.

It will feature the best in virtual sports. It will include technology exhibitions, show matches, expert panel discussions, and the first live Olympic Esports Series finals. In April, the whole schedule and ticket information for the Olympic Esports Week 2023 will be made public.
