Overwatch 2 Season 2 Has Begun Officially: Details, Patch Notes

The first season of Overwatch 2 has successfully ended. Overwatch 2 Season 2, which includes several updates and new content, has now been made available worldwide by Blizzard Entertainment. On December 6, 2022, the newest patch became accessible on all supported systems. In addition to a significant nerf to Sojourn, the second season includes the new Shambali Monastery map called Ramattra. Sojourn should become more balanced as a result of the new modifications. Overwatch 2 Season 2 fixes a number of bugs and introduces fresh challenges to uncover important characters. Here is a brief summary of all the changes brought in via the new season of Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Control Game Mode

In Overwatch 2 Control mode, a point is deemed to have been disputed even if none of the other team’s players are physically present. This is solely for overtime reasons. As it only applies during overtime, this adjustment does not apply to lesser percentages.

Hero Challenges

For Junker Queen, Sojourn, and Kiriko, the Hero unlock challenge has been incorporated. 70-player icon rewards have also been incorporated into the challenges this season.

Competitive Game Mode

Following two weeks, Ramattra will be made available for competitive play. UI flow improvement has been made for competitive play. Changes to matchmaking will improve match quality. Competitively ineligible heroes will have a locked logo in the pool. Temporary competitive title prizes depending on previous season rank have been introduced. However, they can only be used in the next season.

Hero changes 

Here are the changes and updates made to the heroes in Overwatch 2 Season 2.

Doomfist

Rocket punch-

  • Increase in damage range from 15-30 to 25-50.
  • Decrease in wall slam damage from 20-40 to 10-30.
  • Reduce in Empowered Rocket Punch wall slam stun duration was reduced to 0.25-0.75 seconds, knockback radius was reduced from four to three meters.
  • Non-Empowered Rocket punch stuns for a minimum of 0.25 seconds.
  • Reduce in minimum time before cancellation to 0.12 seconds.
  • Cooldown reduced to 3 seconds.

Power Block-

  • Reduce cooldown to 7 seconds.
  • Increase in duration from 2 seconds to 2.5 seconds.
  • Reduce in minimum mitigated damage from 90 to 80 damage.

Meteor Strike-

  • Automatically empowers Rocket Punch on landing.
  • Slow duration on enemy increased to three seconds.

The Best Defense-

  • Increase in maximum temporary health to 200 health points.
  • Increase in temporary health point gain after each target hit 40.

Junker Queen

Rampage-

  • Reduce in wound duration to 4.5 seconds from 5 seconds.
  • Ultimate cost reduction by 10%.

Commanding Shout-

  • Reduce in cooldown to 14 seconds.

Adrenaline Rush-

  • Increase in passive healing multiplier to 1.25 times of damage dealt by wounds.

Bastion

Confuguration Artillery-

  • The delay in projectile drop has been reduced to 0.6 seconds.
  • The damage from the explosion has been reduced to 250. Bastion does not take aunty’s damage on explosion anymore. 
  • Firing delay reduced by 20%

Reconfigure-

  • Cooldown was reduced to 10 seconds.

Sojourn

Railgun-

  • Reduce in energy-delay before dissipation to 5 seconds.
  • Secondary fire damage falloff will now start from 40 meters.
  • Reduce in secondary fire crit multiplier to 1.5.
  • Secondary fire damage scales with energy starting from 30 to 130 damage.
  • Increase in orimary fire projectile damage to 10.
  • Increase in overclock energy charge rate by 20%.

Symmetra

Proton Projector-

  • Increase in beam charge rate and drain by 20%.
  • Increase in primary fire ammo consumption from 7 to 10 per second.
  • Primary fire will now gain ammo from damaging barriers.

Tracer

Pulse Pistol-

  • Overall damage increased to six.

Ana

Sleep Dart-

  • Reduce in cooldown to 14 seconds.

Kiriko

  • Reduce in width of the Arm hit volumes to 15%
  • Addition of auto-climb hero option.

Kitsune Rush-

  • Increase in ability cost by 10%.
  • Reduce in movement bonus from 50% to 30%. 
  • Reduction in cooldown rate to 2x instead of 3x.

Protection Suzu-

  • Faster ability usage with 0.1 seconds cast time.

Kunai-

  • Increase in total ammo count – 15.

Swift Step-

  • Activate the ability by holding the ability keybind.

Mercy

  • Reduction in weapon swap time to 0.35 seconds.

Caduceus Blaster-

  • Increase in total ammo count to 25.

Apart from these changes, Overwatch 2 Season 2 also fixed a plethora of bugs in the various maps and also in the heroes. We can thus expect much smoother gameplay.
