East Bengal FC succumbed to a 0-2 loss at the hands of ATK Mohun Bagan in this Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 game. They now have their 8th straight Kolkata Derby against their arch-rivals, ATK Mohun Bagan.

The Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata witnessed a pulsating and electrifying atmosphere in this game as more than 60,000 people thronged the stands in large numbers. An electrifying atmosphere was created in the entire stadium as the energy levels were quite high in the stadium.

ATK Mohun Bagan dominated possession in the first half as they were constantly putting threats on East Bengal FC’s defence. But the defenders did an exceptional job and thwarted most of the shots that were taken by the Mariners.

In the 12th minute, V.P. Suhair took a shot from a distance but the shot went straight into the hands of ATK Mohun Bagan’s keeper, Vishal Kaith.

The half-time score read 0-0 and it was going towards a very exciting and pulsating second-half.

In the 60th minute, Englishman Jake Jervis took a shot but that went wide off the post. In the 67th minute, ATK Mohun Bagan netted their first goal through a set-piece corner kick. Dimitri Petratos delivered the ball followed by which Manvir Singh made a soft touch to Slavko Damjanovic who scored the goal in 2 attempts.

Even though the Red and Gold Brigade tried staging a comeback through consistent and persistent attacks, it couldn’t materialise into a goal-scoring opportunity.

The away side netted their 2nd goal in the 90th minute through Dimitri Petratos’s rebound shot.

ATK Mohun Bagan sealed the 3rd spot in ISL 2022-23 and will now be facing Odisha FC in the playoffs.
