Simon Grayson’s Bengaluru FC continued their impressive form in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 as they registered their 4th successive victory in the tournament. The team that failed to get their bearings right in 2022, has started off with a bang in the year 2023.

Bengaluru FC’s last loss came against East Bengal FC and since that heart-breaking loss, they have been on an upward trajectory. The young Sivasakthi Narayanan’s double made sure that Bengaluru FC complete a sensational victory in a must-win game against Chennaiyin FC.

The Blues had taking a dominant 3-0 lead in the break-time itself and it needed something special from the Chennai Machans to stage a comeback into the game.

Around the 14th minute of the game, Bengaluru FC scored a goal in a powerful counter-attacking move. Sivasakthi Narayanan received a lovely lobbed through ball and he was one-on with the keeper. This was after he dribbled the ball quite well in spite of a Chennaiyin FC defender being at the scruff of his neck. His goal gave Bengaluru FC a promising start.

In the 22nd minute, Bengaluru FC doubled their lead after a grave mistake from a Chennaiyin FC defender. The defender failed to keep control on the ball and Sivasakthi pounced on the opportunity. He was again one-on-one with the opposition goalkeeper and lobbed it past his head to net his and Bengaluru FC’s second goal of the game.

Another defensive mistake from the Chennayin FC side led to the 3rd goal of Bengaluru FC. Rohit Kumar found his name on the goal-scoring sheet this time.

In the 58th minute of the game, Chennaiyin FC’s Edwin Sydney scored a fabulous goal. He fired a goal from the right flank with a peach of a left-footed shot. His fiery goal smashed the top left back corner of the net and gave the away team, a small hope.

However, Bengaluru FC led by custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made sure that they don’t commit any defensive errors and guided their team to a comprehensive victory against Chennaiyin FC.

Bengaluru FC is now in the 6th position in the ISL 2022-23 points table, while Chennaiyin FC is in the 8th position.
