In October 2023, Mojang released the news of the Minecraft 1.21 update, emphasizing that this version will mostly concentrate on combat experiences.

Next, trial chambers, fresh spawners, and a brand-new hostile mob named Breeze were added by the studio.

Mojang has altered its development and release schedule, though, and has only unveiled a small number of the things that Minecraft 1.21 will bring.

During the development of the 1.16 release, Mojang experimented with many changes to the combat systems of the game.

The upgraded features were never made available in the vanilla version, though, by the developer. Therefore, there is little possibility that these will be included in the Minecraft 1.21 release.

Minecraft 1.21 Combat Changes

Bows were modified for the final combat test, 8c, such that every arrow fired from them had 100% accuracy.

The accuracy of an arrow only gradually drops as players aim it for more than three seconds.

During this combat test, one of the biggest improvements was that crossbows with multishot enchantment allowed users to strike and damage the same target as long as they were close enough.

In combat test 8c, Mojang boosted the attack speed of swords from 1.6 to 3. Swords made of stone, iron, diamond, and netherlite, however, did not deal as much damage. Each does harm equivalent to one heart less.

A charged strike can have an additional range of up to one block, while a conventional sword blow has a shorter range.

In addition, the sweeping edge attack damage was significantly decreased and the sweeping edge enchantment was nerfed.

Axe’s attack damage was decreased, but its attack speed was also raised to 2. The melee weapon would now only utilize one durability point during attacks.

This is instead of two and would always deactivate shields for 1.6 seconds. Its attack range was, however, reduced from three to 2.5.

Trident’s range was extended from three to 3.5 but its melee damage was decreased from nine to seven health points. It might also be fired from the dispenser in the combat test.

Combat test 8c also included a significant change: players may now regenerate health even with just three and a half hunger points remaining.

Health regeneration used to halt when the hunger bar fell below nine points.

The base life regeneration speed was raised from four seconds to two seconds, although saturation was no longer employed to heal from damage more quickly. With the 1.21 release for Minecraft, this would be a significant modification.

In this combat test 8c, the healing potion heals 50% more every level, and the strength potion does 20% and 40% damage at different levels.

The ability to stack potions up to 16 was another enormous improvement in the test version.
