India marked a strong comeback in Boxing Day Test and defeated the hosts by a margin of 8 wickets. They will be motivated after performing admirably well in Melbourne after a horrific game in Adelaide. India has suffered an injury blow and batsman KL Rahul got ruled has been out from the series. He is the third player to get injured in Australia as if now.

The Karnataka opener was in impeccable form in the ODI and T20I series. He was yet to make his first appearance in the ongoing Test series. But, he sustained an injury during a practice session ahead of the Sydney Test.

Team India Suffers Injury Blow, KL Rahul Ruled Out From Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21

The return of Rohit Sharma almost closed the doors for the right-handed KXIP opener. But, he could have put his case forward for the final Test. BCCI informed Indian cricket fans that KL Rahul got his wrist injured during the practice session at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Indian cricket board also added that the 28-year-old needs at least three weeks to recover from the injury. And, there are chances that the talented batsman might miss out on his place for the England Test series starting on February 5.

“KL Rahul sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets at the MCG during Team India’s practice session on Saturday. The wicketkeeper-batsman will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he will need about three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength,” read a statement from the BCCI.

“He will now return to India and head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation of his injury,” added the statement.

India and Australia will take the field in a crucial third Test of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. It will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The series is currently on a level. And, both the heavyweights will look to come up with an extraordinary performance in the New Year Test.
