Chris Lynn set to replace Quinton de Kock in the tournament opener of Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Proteas wicketkeeper recently reached India after playing the ODI series against Pakistan. As per the BCCI guidelines, he will have to stay in quarantine for a span of one week before taking the field in a match for Mumbai Indians.

Quinton de Kock is an integral part of the Mumbai Indians batting line-up. He has done exceedingly well for his franchise in the previous season. The southpaw opened for MI in IPL 2020 and played a vital role in making his side win their 5th title. He amassed 503 runs in 16 games at a strike rate of 140 and ended up being one of the top scorers from Mumbai Indians.

The Proteas wicketkeeper was in good form with the bat in the ODI series against Pakistan. But, he will have to hold himself back for at least a week before getting available for the selections. This comes as an opportunity for Chris Lynn, who was bought by the defending champions in IPL 2020 auction.

The Aussie opener warmed the bench throughout the previous season. But, it looks like now he will get an opportunity to play his first game for Mumbai Indians. Chris Lynn is one of the most destructive openers, who has played for Kolkata Knight Riders till 2019. He did an impressive job as an opener for KKR. But, his injury-prone body shortened his stint with the Kolkata-based franchise.
