Shoaib Akhtar claims that Virat Kohli wouldn’t have scored that many runs if he had played against him. The star Indian cricketer got the opportunity to play against Shoaib Akhtar only once before Rawalpindi Express bid adieu to all forms of cricket. They both played during Asia Cup in 2010. But, they didn’t face each other.

Virat Kohli is going through a very lean patch in competitive cricket. He has not scored a single century in the last 17 Tests, 21 ODIs, 25 T20Is & 37 IPL Games. In the ongoing IPL 2022, Virat Kohli has not scored runs as per his reputation of the best batsman in the world. The right-handed batter has managed only 119 runs in 6 games.

Shoaib Akhtar claims he would have stopped Virat Kohli from scoring that many runs

Virat Kohli & Shoaib Akhtar

The former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is very critical of Virat’s batting form. Recently, during an interaction, Rawalpindi Express said that Virat Kohli is an amazing batsman. But, it is also true that Kohli wouldn’t have scored runs against him. As per him, Kohli would have scored fewer runs. But, he would have fought hard for every single century or fifty.

“Virat Kohli is a good person and a big cricketer and you only expect big words from big players. And I thank him a lot for that. But, if I would have played against Virat Kohli then he would not have scored these many runs but whatever he would have scored those would have been fabulous and it would look that he fought hard for those runs,” he said in an interview with an Indian media outlet.

Shoaib Akhtar added that he would have tried to get the best out of the Indian batsman, “gotten the best out of Kohli. He may not have had 50 centuries. 20 or 25 may at the most but those would have been valiant hundreds. I would have gotten the best out of Virat Kohli,” he added.

Virat Kohli is currently playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. He left the team’s captaincy last season in order to focus on his batting and let’s see how everything goes with him going ahead into the IPL.
