The Delhi Capitals (DC) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 went right down to the wire. In what should have been a straightforward chase for the Delhi team, wasn’t the easiest of the lot.

KKR played like a wounded but brave soldier and displayed a lot of heart in the 2nd innings. Despite the game starting a hour later, the fans stuck by their side and even tech giant Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook was present in the stands.

With the win, the Delhi Capitals are off the mark in IPL 2023. They would be hoping to pull things around and get some more wins in the upcoming games.

In this article, we take a look at the 3 talking points of today’s DC vs KKR game in IPL 2023 in Delhi:

1. Prithvi Shaw’s horrendous form continues

We all are aware of the prowess of Prithvi Shaw. The Delhi Capitals player has enormous calibre and skills but he isn’t being able to prove his mettle in the ongoing IPL 2023. Once again, he failed with the willow and couldn’t give his team the start they would have wanted.

The flamboyant opening batter scored just 13 runs in 11 balls and was eventually gobbled up by KKR spinner, Varun Chakravarthy. If he fails to score runs for the teams in the future, he might as well be replaced.

2. KKR’s spinners rise up to the occasion

Defending a below-par total is never easy. But KKR’s spinners have been doing their job really well today. Even though their regular impact player Suyash Sharma didn’t play today as they needed an extra batter in the mix when wickets kept falling in the 1st innings, KKR weren’t in trouble.

Skipper Nitish Rana, who is a more than capable part-timer, came into the attack and delivered the goods instantly. He kept varying his line and lengths and also took 2 wickets. Varun Chakravarthy once again transferred pressure back to the opposition and bagged 2 wickets.

Sunil Narine went wicket-less and conceded 36 runs in 4 overs. But with the legacy he has, KKR wouldn’t want to replace him.

3. DC’s shallow middle-order keeps getting exposed

Delhi have a very inexperienced middle-order. And once again, they wilted under pressure. While skipper David Warner once again single-handedly scored runs, the likes of Aman Khan and Lalit Yadav didn’t impress at all.

Once Warner and Manish Pandey got out, there was a huge crisis situation in the team. Delhi need to go back to the drawing board and fix their middle-order woes.
