PBKS vs DC

Match 64 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was brimming with several thrills and chills. Punjab Kings (PBKS) fell short by 15 runs in this game versus Delhi Capitals (DC). Delhi, who are already out of IPL 2023 have spoiled the party for Punjab and this could be extremely lethal for Punjab in the coming days.

Batting first, Delhi set up a mammoth total of 213 runs on the back of some impressive performances from Rilee Rossouw, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw. The Dharamshala outfield was fast, the ground was small and shot-making was extremely easy.

Despite some lopsided fielding performances from Delhi, they managed to keep their nerves in the crunch run-chase from Punjab Kings.

In this article, we take a look at the top 3 talking points of the PBKS vs DC game that took place in Dharamshala:

1. Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy once again comes under the scanner

Some of the decisions taken by PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan in this PBKS vs DC game have been questionable. Making Harpreet Brar bowl only after the 15th over was a bad move as the left-arm orthodox spinner should have been brought in earlier.

Brar was in form and bowled two tight overs. Plus, not giving Arshdeep Singh the new ball wasn’t a good move from Shikhar Dhawan too.

2. Prithvi Shaw stages a stupendous comeback

After being dropped from the team after a string of low scores, Prithvi Shaw impressed one and all with his supreme level comeback. Then Mumbai based batter scored 54 runs in just 38 balls and his knock was packed with 7 fours and 1 six.

Prithvi Shaw had a good strike-rate of 142.11. Notably, this was his first half-century in IPL 2023. He would be hoping that he has a good game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which is DC’s last game in this season.

3. Liam Livingstone’s blistering innings goes in vain

At a time when several PBKS batters failed to get their bearings right, Liam Livingstone was the knight in shining armour for the Punjab team. The English hard-hitting middle-order batter kept the hopes alive during the topsy-turvy run-chase from PBKS.

He scored 94 runs in just 48 balls and middled most of the deliveries he faced. Livingstone smashed 5 fours and 9 sixes during his fiery knock and he had a blistering strike-rate of 195.83.

Along side Atharva Taide, Liam Livingstone played extremely well in this PBKS vs DC game of IPL 2023.
