MS Dhoni’s retirement has always been a big talking point in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After the talismanic skipper retired from all forms of international cricket on 15th August 2020 via an Instagram post, people are hinting he would unexpectedly announce his retirement from the IPL too.

In the ongoing IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have reached the finals after beating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 15 runs in Qualifier 1. MS Dhoni and co. have coasted to the finals for the 10th time in 14 seasons and this simply underlines consistency from the Men in Yellow.

Former CSK legendary bowler and present bowling coach of CSK, Dwayne Bravo has now given a massive update on MS Dhoni’s retirement.

“100 percent. Especially, with the Impact Player rule. It will keep prolonging his career. He bats really deep. I think the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, (Shivam) Dube… these guys make a huge difference. You don’t require much from MS. But he has the ability to keep his calm when the team is under pressure,” said the former pacer to Star Sports.

This naturally is music to the ears of all CSK lovers and cricket lovers in general. MS Dhoni is a master tactician and he knows how to bring the best out of all his players. The likes of Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, and Tushar Deshpande are all being groomed by MS Dhoni and they have been producing their best results.

MS Dhoni gives a sneak-peek into his retirement plans

After winning Qualifier 1 against Gujarat, MS Dhoni shed some light on his retirement plans to broadcaster Harsha Bhogle in the post-match presentation.

“Frankly, it takes a heavy toll. I have been out of home for literally four months I will always come to CSK. I have been out of home from January, been practicing since March, so we will see,” said Dhoni.

“January 31 was when I got out of the house, finished my work, and started practicing from the 2nd or 3rd of March. It takes a lot, but I have ample time to decide. I have 8-9 months to decide. Why take that headache now? I have ample time to decide. The auction is in December,” he added.

In Qualifier 1, Ruturaj Gaikwad fired on all cylinders and produced a fabulous performance for Chennai Super Kings. The youngster scored 60 runs in just 44 deliveries and also deservedly won the Player of the Match award.

Ravindra Jadeja too was extremely useful for CSK in that GT vs CSK game and contributed with the bat as well as with the ball. He bowled 4 overs and bagged 2 wickers. While batting, Jadeja scored 22 runs in 16 balls.
