Shubman Gill has been making quite the waves in international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the last few months. After his jaw-dropping century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 62 of the ongoing IPL, several ex-cricketers including Virender Sehwag has voiced their views and opinions on Gill.

In the year 2023, Shubman Gill has smashed 6 centuries and incidentally, 3 out of these 6 centuries have come at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The uncanny feat stretches to his 50 plus scores as well.

Gill has scored 5 fifty plus scores in IPL 2023 and all of them have come at the home ground of the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Speaking on Gill and his love-affair with Ahmedabad, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has labelled this as “love story translated into marriage”.

“This was probably the biggest chapter. I would rather say that the love story has translated into marriage. It looked like he was batting on a completely different surface. He was scoring those boundaries with such ease but all other batters struggled. We have been talking about Shubman for a long time. This year he scored a hundred in T20Is and Tests, has a double hundred in ODI and now scored a century in IPL as well,” said Virender Sehwag.

Shubman Gill powered Gujarat Titans to the playoffs

On the back of Gill’s impressive knock of 101 runs in just 58 balls, Gujarat became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023. The defending champions have been brimming with consistency and have been one of the top sides in IPL 2023.

Gill deservedly also bagged the player of the match award in this GT vs SRH game. Sunrisers Hyderabad became the 2nd team to get knocked out of IPL 2023, after Delhi Capitals (DC).

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had taken 5 wickets in that game but his 5-fer went in vain as Gujarat had the last laugh in that IPL 2023 game.

Gujarat Titans next lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 21st May 2023 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It is the last league stage game for Hardik Pandya and co.
