T Natarajan has emerged as one of the frontrunners to win the purple cap in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. He is currently in the 2nd position with 15 wickets in 7 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad. And, Sunil Gavaskar is full of praise for the Indian spearhead and feels he is going to play a key role with the ball if gets picked in the squad of Team India for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

T Natarajan came into the IPL 2022 after recovering from his injury. He was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2022 auction at a whopping price of INR 4 Crores. The SRH star bowler bowled a superb spell with the ball of 3/10 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. he played a key role in making his side register their 5th consecutive win in the tournament.

Sunil Gavaskar Heaps Praise On SRH Pacer

Sunil Gavaskar cherished T Natarajan’s consistency in the ongoing season after SRH defeated RCB by 9 wickets. He said that yorkers are always important for any pacers and T Natarajan’s biggest positive is that he can bowl that prime delivery at any course of time in the match. As per the former Indian cricketer, he will be vital in the death overs between 16 and 20 for India going into the mega-event.

“We all know that yorkers are his specialty but he held the ball back well. It’s good to see him back because for some time it looked like Indian cricket had lost him. It’s good to have him back in contention. I am pretty sure, with the way he bowls between the 16th and the 20th over, he will be very much in contention,” Gavaskar said during the mid-innings show on official broadcasters Star Sports.

Little Master mentioned that last year T Natarajan sustained an injury while playing for India. But, now, he is back and kicking to go into the tournament. He feels T Natarajan is a prime contender to play in the mega-event for Team India that is slated to be played in Australia starting on the 16th of October.

“Last year, perhaps, he wasn’t on top of his game. Right now, he is full of confidence. He has had his share of injuries but he is fresh and raring to go. He recognizes that there is a World Cup coming up, he wants to be on that flight to Australia,” he said during the post-match show.

India is set to open their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 23rd October.
