Umran Malik, the new Indian pace sensation has hogged the spotlight from every nook and corner. Former cricketing greats like Sunil Gavaskar and others have highly praised his ability to bowl quickly in white-ball cricket. Recently, Umran Malik’s father Rashid shared an instance involving MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli quoting his son as the future of Indian cricket.
Umran Malik was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. He has lived up to SRH’s expectations and bowled sensibly in this season. Constantly clocking deliveries above 150 is an ex-factor in Malik’s bowling.
Umran Malik’s Father Reveals His Wish
This is the reason why he has successfully managed in dismissing some of the best in T20 cricket. This season Umran Malik has grabbed 10 wickets in 7 games playing for the orange army.
Recently, in an interaction, Umran Malik’s father shed light on an instance that elated his son to the seventh cloud. Rashid revealed that previously when MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli told him that he is going to be the future of Indian cricket, this made his day. As per him, Umran Malik told him about the instance through a phone call.
“Umran discussed some of those things with me. MS Dhoni is a legend of the game. Virat Kohli is also a great cricketer. Umran met both of them. They have told Umran that he is the future of Indian cricket. When Umran called me to share this with me, he was extremely happy. He was elated after listening to those golden words from the two legends of the game,” Rashid said.
Malik’s father revealed his wish saying that his son should play for India in the World Cup someday going into the future.
“My only dream now is to see my son in an Indian team jersey. I want him to play in the World Cup someday. I am sure he will. He has reached this level and I am confident he will get there very soon. He will make the entire country proud,” he added.
Umran Malik looks fit and will be spotted in the action against Gujarat Titans on the 27th of April.
