Australia thrashed England by an innings and 14 runs in the 3rd Test of the Ashes. The hosts successfully managed in retaining Ashes by winning back-to-back three games in five-match series. During the 3rd Test, Scott Bolland hogged the limelight by bowling one of the most economical spells of his career and Test cricket history. Meanwhile, one clip got viral of Marcus Harris stating that hotspot technology is hopeless and it is of no use.

On Day-2 of the 3rd Test, England bowlers had a difficult task to stop Australia from posting a good total on the scoreboard. And, they managed to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon in the very first hour of the day. Meanwhile, Marcus Harris looked comfortable while batting against England bowlers.

However, in the 31st over of the innings, the umpire adjudged him LBW out. The official felt that the ball hit Harris’s pad without touching the willow. But, the batsman looked confident and took DRS that went in the favor of southpaw.

In the replays, it was visible that the ball hit the pads after getting an inside edge of the bat. But, the hotspot didn’t show any such signs. Finally, the third umpire took the help of RTS (Real-Time Snickometer) that cleared the fact there was an inside edge that saved the batsman.

The on-field umpire had to change his decision from out to not out. After the decision, Marcus Harris was heard chirping a few words talking to England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes. He said, “I wasn’t 100% sure but thought there may be an inside edge. The hotspot is fu**ing hopeless,”

Marcus Harris himself didn’t have one of the best series against England. He poorly flopped in the first couple of Tests. But, team management showed their faith in the batsman. Interestingly, the latter repaid it with a 76 run determined knock in the 1st innings of the 3rd Test. This knock came at the time when Australia was struggling in the game against England’s heavy bowling attack.

In the end, Scott Boland hit the final nail in the coffin by bowling a dream spell of 6 wickets for 7 runs and took the game away from the visitor’s reach.
