IPL Auction Sri Lankan Players

The 23rd of December’s IPL auction is scheduled to be held in Kochi. The IPL franchise’ officials are working diligently to perfect their auction approach. Franchises have already kept 163 players from their current teams.

There is no doubt that the relationship between the Sri Lankans and the IPL over the previous four to five years has not been especially robust. Similar to players like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Lasith Malinga, are some of the top Sri Lankan players who tasted success in the IPL.

In reality, the bulk of the most recent Lankan sportsmen has been rejected by the tournament, with the exception of the IPL 2021, where Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera were admitted on an honorable basis. This year some of the top SL players have been registered for IPL 2023 auction. Know the top 3 Sri Lankan players who might get high bids in the IPL auction.

Kusal Mendis

When Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup in 2022, eight years after losing the event, Kusal Mendis was a key component of the team. Throughout the current World Cup, he has also been a critical member of his team, assisting them in winning important games.

Thanks to Mendis’ 79-run performance, Sri Lanka defeated the Netherlands by 16 runs and moved on to the Super 12 round. In the inaugural Super 12 game, his match-winning half-century helped Sri Lanka smash Ireland by nine wickets.

Due to his amazing bat abilities over the last three months and during the tournament, franchises might make exorbitant bids for him during the auction.

Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka might be an X-factor for any franchise, despite not having the best T20 World Cup.

Dasun Shanaka guided the Sri Lankan team to great success in 2022. Shanaka led the Islanders to victory at the Asia Cup 2022 despite not having the best team. Shanaka has overall steered Sri Lanka to 21 T20I triumphs.

As a quick bowler who is an all-rounder, he also has good statistics. He has scored 3398 runs at a strike rate of 140 or better in his T20 career so far. The Sri Lankan skipper might provide numerous teams with a long-term answer to the captaincy conundrum.

Kusal Perera

Kusal Perera, though, has fared worse than anyone else during the IPL auctions. Even though the southpaw is now a well-known name in Sri Lanka’s multi-format cricket, he hasn’t signed an IPL contract since 2013. The franchises haven’t given the cricketer the go-ahead for at least the previous five or six IPL auctions.

But in the IPL 2023, the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batter might see a brand-new pattern. Because the teams have so many alternatives, Perera might excel among top players.

If the player is able to attract the notice of any IPL scouting teams, he might be able to obtain a second IPL ticket.
