Krunal Pandya Tests COVID Positive, 2nd Sri Lanka vs India T20 Postponed, 8 Indian Players Isolated

Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been tested COVID positive and it is reported that eight players, who came in contact with Krunal Pandya are under self-isolation. The player was tested positive today due to which the 2nd T20I between Sri Lanka and India has been postponed to Wednesday.

As per the reports, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav along with the other six players will be tested again. If the results come out positive then the aforementioned duo will not fly to England for the Test series. It is said that Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav were expected to travel to England after the conclusion of the T20I series against Sri Lanka. They were picked by the selectors as a replacement for injured Shubman Gill. Avesh Khan, and Washington Sundar.

Krunal Pandya Tested COVID Positive

Currently, Team India has a lead in the ongoing three-match T20I series by 1-0. In the series opener, visitors defeated the hosts by 34 runs. And they were scheduled to play the 2nd game on Tuesday. But, the game was postponed after Krunal Pandya tested positive.

At the moment Indian and Sri Lankan players are under the bio-bubble. Also, the players will be isolated as per the strict protocols issued by the cricket boards. The frequency of cricketers getting COVID positive is increasing with each passing day due to the increase in the number of games and travel across different parts of the world.

Recently, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was also tested COVID positive. However, the Indian international has recovered and joined the Indian team camp once again in England. Currently, he is gearing up for the five-match Test series against Brits starting from 4th August.

On the other hand, India vs Sri Lanka series also came under threat after Sri Lankan coach Grant Flower and data analyst G T Niroshan contracted the virus after they returned from the tour of England.
