Shreyas Iyer’s rise across all the formats would have given a big relief to Team India. The Mumbai-born batsman is in exceptional batting form with the bat. He did exceedingly well against West Indies during the T20I series. And, he replicated that form really well against Sri Lanka.

Shreyas Iyer didn’t get out once in three-match series against Sri Lanka. He slammed more than 200 runs for Team India in limited-over format series. Iyer then scored beautiful knocks of 92 and 62 runs in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka. He was at his supreme best with the bat in the Day-Night Test.

The way Shreyas Iyer is performing is considerably really well in ODIs, T20Is, and Tests. He has certainly raised the bar of his batting and filed his contention for the slot in Team India’s middle-order. So far, he has smashed 388 runs in Tests, 947 runs in ODIs, and 809 runs in T20Is.

In a show at StarSports, Sunil Gavaskar said that Shreyas Iyer bats in an attractive fashion. As per him, the format doesn’t leave a big impact on Iyer’s game. He added that the Mumbai cricketer plays in the same fashion across all the formats. The legendary cricketer mentioned that Shreyas Iyer has all the things that can make him go on to become the next big thing in Indian cricket.

‘Because anybody who plays the way he did…it is very attractive batting that he has, the shots that he has. He is a good-looking young man. So it all points to the fact that in the next six-eight months he could be the next big thing in Indian cricket,’ Sunny added.

‘I have always dreamt about playing Test cricket for India,’ Shreyas said in the post-match presentation, ‘it was a good feeling to come and contribute, want to keep this going.’
