Deepak Chahar nearly break down in tears after India lost the 3rd and final ODI against South Africa. India suffered a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series against Proteas. In the final game, Deepak Chahar played a swashbuckling knock of 54 runs off 34 balls. He almost won the game for Men in Blue. But, his dismissal in the final over brought hosts back into the game.

India was tipped to chase a decent target of 288 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. It looked visitors will easily chase down the target. But that was not the case. From Men in Blue, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Deepak Chahar scored brilliant fifties. However, it was India’s middle-order batters at fault due to which India failed in chasing a decent target of 288 runs.

Deepak Chahar’s heroics but India lost the 3rd ODI

Rishabh Pant got dismissed after playing an irresponsible stroke on his first delivery off Andile Phehlukwayo. Even he got an angry look on the field from Virat Kohli, who was standing on the non-striker’s end at that point of time. The former Indian skipper was not impressed with the youngster’s approach in the game when Team India needed a good partnership.

But, the entry of Deepak Chahar’s entry made things vulnerable for Proteas bowlers. He came out to bat in the 37th over after Shreyas Iyer departed and took some time to get settled.

He smashed host bowlers for two massive sixes and 5 boundaries. In the end, Team India needed 10 runs off 18 balls with Chahar in his top-notch form. But, a mistimed stroke against Dwaine Pretorius saw him walk towards the pavilion.

Chahar was let down by himself and was spotted cursing him for playing such an irresponsible stroke in such a situation. The player sat on a chair near the boundary rope expecting Team India to register a win. But, tailenders gave their wickets quite easily to South Africa bowlers and India had to suffer a defeat by a small margin of 4 runs.
