India is currently playing 3rd and final ODI against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. But, the decision didn’t go down well for the hosts as they lost their top two players within 4 overs. Rohit Sharma got out after scoring just 18 runs and Virat Kohli was dismissed on a duck. Both the players were sent to the pavilion by West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph in the same over.
Virat Kohli scores duck against West Indies in the 3rd ODI
Very soon the name of Virat Kohli started trending on social media for registering duck in the 3rd ODI. The netizens and cricket pundits criticised star player for playing a poor stroke on the second ball of his innings.
Kohli took the crease after Rohit Sharma’s departure and the former was expected to stitch a decent partnership with Shikhar Dhawan, who was batting from the other end. However, the star player edged the 2nd delivery of his game and the wicketkeeper managed an easy catch.
This is the first occasion after June 2015 when Virat Kohli failed to cross 50+ scores in a series. In the ongoing series, he has notched 8, 18 and O and it looks like former Indian skipper is going through a very rough patch with the bat.
Coming onto the match, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are batting for Team India in the 3rd ODI at a score of 42 runs for a loss of 3 wickets. Alzarri Joseph has grabbed two important wickets for his team. Odean Smith also managed to take one important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in the ongoing game.
