Sagar “Saggy” Kumar, a well-known BGMI esports player, has become the talk of the town after making an incredible return to Tier-1 BGMI esports by qualifying for the Battlegrounds Mobile Masters Series (BGMS) Season 2 competition.

This comes months after he was discovered using cheats to play the game. He posted a story on his Instagram account to mark his comeback to the big stage.

Reason for Saggy’s ban

When Saggy was a member of Team Celsius, he rapidly became more and more skilled. Before Battlegrounds Mobile India Series Season 1, he joined Enigma Gaming.

Before he was exposed for hacking on his own livestream, he was dominating Tier-1 competitions.

Although he first denied using hackers, he eventually acknowledged using them and was shortly fired from Enigma Gaming.

He was also forbidden from working for any organization.

Aryaman Wasan, CEO of Enigma Gaming, said that Saggy had to be dismissed from the team since he was unable to meet his duties after admitting to cheating.

Saggy said, “This has nothing to do with the team or the organization. I have had college issues since the beginning.

The team didn’t know anything and there is no point hating them,” before deleting his social media accounts.

Saggy’s Return to the BGMI eSports scene

It was recently revealed that the player has returned to competitive BGMI and is taking part in the NODWIN Gaming-hosted Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) S2 qualifiers.

Saggy responded to charges of hacking by noting that he is playing on NODWIN Gaming’s verified devices and that there is gameplay video accessible in case anybody questions his validity in an Instagram story about how he has been grinding for more than a year.

Saggy contends that the 12-month suspension he received from BGMI has ended, making him eligible to participate.

On Instagram, he wrote, “All my POVs have been checked and so have my devices. I hope you take it in a good way and let our gameplay decide the rest.”

However, most people, including eminent personalities in the eSports scene in India seem to be unhappy with his comeback.

Opposition from the community

“There should be no second chances for people who deliberately destroy the sanctity of competition. People work really hard to be that one in a million and there are millions who want to be the next one. This is very wrong, I hope this is not allowed,” the General Manager of TSM India said.

Rushindra Sinha, the CEO of Global Esports, one of the most renowned personalities, also opposed this move.

He said, “This isn’t about how hard he’s worked in the last 18 months but the fact that he willingly chose to compromise the competitive integrity of the sport for his own personal fame and gain.”

It now seems uncertain if Nodwin Gaming will allow Saggy to continue in the BGMI tournament.
