KL Rahul And Shubman Gill Will Definitely Play The Boxing Day Test’ – Aakash Chopra

India is preparing for the iconic Boxing Day Test that will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The visitors are already behind in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy by 1-0. They lost the series opener by a big margin of 8 wickets. And, fans back in India mocked the batting line-up for their poor show in the 2nd innings at Adelaide Oval. Now, everyone is expecting a number of changes on the side. But, Aakash Chopra has picked his top two players, who should play in the upcoming affair.

Prithvi Shaw is going through a poor patch in batting. His willow has suddenly stopped smoking runs with the bat. In 1st Test, he was clean bowled by Pat Cummins in an identical fashion. Some former cricketers even raised questions about his batting technique. And, it is confirmed that he will not feature in the Boxing Day game. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has also left for India and management will also look for his replacement.

The former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has shared his opinion over the same. He shared a clip on his Facebook page and expressed his wish ahead of the 2nd Test. He said that Shubhman Gill and KL Rahul should definitely play in Melbourne. The commentator said that Prithvi Shaw is going through a rough patch with the bat. Also, he is low in confidence this is the reason he should be dropped from the team. Meanwhile, KL Rahul will be the perfect player to replace Virat Kohli.

“It looks like Prithvi Shaw is not going to get a chance in the second match. And I can totally understand because he has not scored the runs, and his confidence is down. If the team says it is short-term and, it doesn’t mean he will not be considered in the future, they can definitely do that. They should play someone who is in the right mental space and who they feel can provide a good start,” he added on his Facebook video.

However, he preferred playing Karnataka-born player should open the innings. But, Team India will pick Shubhman Gill as the opener alongside Mayank Agarwal. He asserted that after Rohit Sharma gets eligible to play than one of the players will be chopped from the side.

“My vote is with KL Rahul, but they are likely to go with Shubman Gill. But whether you open with KL Rahul or Shubman Gill, the sword will be hanging over their head as Rohit Sharma will be back for the next Test,” he added.
