Mohammad Kaif comes in support of Shikhar Dhawan and backs him to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Shikhar Dhawan played a brilliant knock against Chennai Super Kings and guided his side to an impressive victory.

The southpaw was picked by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 Mega-Auction and has played as per his worth. Shikhar Dhawan had a good game against Chennai Super Kings on Monday. He became 2nd player to score 6000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League. Also, he completed his 1000 runs against a single franchise CSK.

Mohammad Kaif takes dig on Indian Selectors

The left-handed batsman opened the innings alongside Mayank Agarwal in the IPL game. The pitch provided assistance to the bowlers. But, he showcased his ability to dismiss the risk and play strokes all across the park simply outclassing Chennai’s bowling attack.

Shikhar is currently one of the top 5 in the race to win the orange cap in the ongoing season IPL 2022. So far, Dhawan has managed 302 runs in 8 games at a good strike rate of 133.

For the past couple of seasons, many good cricketing minds have said that Shikhar Dhawan should be given a long rope in the shorter format playing for India. But, the Indian selectors have ignored him as their first choice opener in T20Is.

Shikhar Dhawan last played his T20I against Sri Lanka in the 3rd T20I. Now, former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif has taken it to Twitter and shared a post asking selectors to pick Shikhar Dhawan in the T20 World Cup.

He wrote, “Dhoni Thala hai, Kohli King hain aur Shikhar? 6000 IPL runs, delivering under pressure, he is T20 ka Khalifa. He should play T20 World Cup. Don’t ask me where, if I was selector, I would tell you.”
