Aakash Chopra, the former Indian cricketer feels that Mumbai Indians is short of pacers in their squad. The current champions have the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult on their side. Ahead of IPL 2021 auction, he has MI released a bundle of pacers like James Pattinson, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Mitchell McClenaghan. Meanwhile, Lasith Malinga also bid farewell to franchise cricket and will not be spotted wearing the Mumbai Indians jersey.

Aakash Chopra Feels MI Have No Back-up For Trent Boult

No MS Dhoni, No Virat Kohli, Aakash Chopra Picks Combined India-Australia Test team

Aakash Chopra, the former Kolkata Knight Riders player has come up with an opinion over MI’s bowling attack. He feels that MI might have made a mistake by releasing three of their experienced pacers in the squad. The former player added that MI might look to rope Mitchell Starc in the side. But, it will not be an easy task because the left-arm pacer will not be an easy player to get in the side.

“The interesting thing is that the Mumbai Indians have changed their entire fast bowling attack. Malinga has retired, they have let go of Pattinson who was his replacement and they have let Nathan Coulter-Nile and Mitchell McClenaghan also go,” Chopra told on YouTube.

Chopra asserted that MI doesn’t have the backup for Trent Boult. And, if they managed to get the services of Mitchell Starc then it will be a good pair to watch. As per him, Mumbai Indians can buy James Pattinson, who performed decently in his debut season.

“They will need at least two overseas fast bowlers now after leaving out so many. They don’t have a backup for Boult and have a vacant fast bowler’s spot also. If Mitchell Starc comes for 8-10 crores, then Bumrah and Starc will be a fantastic pair. But I don’t think the Mumbai Indians will be able to acquire Mitchell Starc if he puts his name,” he stated.

“They can buy Pattinson again but he was very cheap, so they probably have someone else in their mind. Kyle Jamieson, Jhye Richardson, Chris Morris, and Sheldon Cottrell are available. I don’t see a very big exciting name. They might take back Nathan Coulter-Nile because he was very expensive,” Chopra added.
