Even during the 2019 season, the playground in Hyderabad was selected to host the Final of the IPL after the game was shifted from Chennai. Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020 – Team Analysis

Sunrisers Hyderabad, in the season of IPL 2020 will again be looking to be consistent in their ranks and expect to pocket a 2nd IPL title after winning it in 2016. The David Warner-led side has had a decent IPL Auction on December 19 in Kolkata. They are already a settled unit and have added some youngsters in its stride to boost their Indian side. The Team now looks experienced and has a nice cushion to it. Hence, there is no reason why they won’t be looking to put up a strong show.

After the IPL Auction in 2019, the key pick for the Sunrisers Hyderabad was Mitchell March, the all-rounder of Australia. He has the experience and could add value to any Team was bought into the Team at a price of Rs.2 crore. Fabian Allen, who was bought at a price of Rs.50 lakh, is a bargain deal. He is also an all-rounder of West Indies who can easily bowl left-arm spin.

SRH also wanted to address the issue of combating of Indian players, and they did that by getting Virat Singh at a higher price of Rs.1.9 crore. It is also the same for Priyam Garg at Rs.1.9 crore.

Other than these players, Sanjay Yadav, Sandeep Bavanaka and Abdul Samad were picked up for Rs.20 lakh/player.

SRH will look up to Warne-Bairstow magic yet again

During the IPL 2019 season, the Sunrisers Hyderabad had a gala time seeing Jonny Bairstow and David Warner ripping opponent’s bowling attack with their lethal attack. Warner was more lethal of the two, and it helped it winning the impressive Orange Cap. His opening partner, Bairstow was also among the runs and provided ample support to Warner. They had to leave the IPL 2019 mid-way owing to 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup preparations, and the Team had to suffer the blow in play-offs.

But this time around in 2020, the SRH Team expects these two dangerous openers playing for the entire season. Kane Williamson at number 3 could be another player that the Team looks to provide the Team with consistency. Priyam Garg, 19, has so far been sizzling in List A and First-Class Cricket at a young image and has been managed to impress one and all. Even he could be an option that the Sunrisers Hyderabad may look up to in the top slots.

SRH will look up to Warne-Bairstow magic yet again

Virat Singh, on the other hand, is a 22 year young batsman, who has already shown his ability across the formats of Cricket in Domestic circuit. The Jharkhand batsman could be a great setting in the middle order, and it is where he may test himself on the big stage. What’s more, Vijay Shankar may still have a crucial season ahead, and he should be looking to reclaim his spot in the mix.

The side of Sunrisers Hyderabad has also got Manish Pandey and Wriddhiman Saha to add more polish to the squad. In Mohammed Nabi and Mitchell March, the side has got two amazing all-rounders at its disposal. They can impact a match and provide the much-needed boost to the Team when needed.

The bowling of SRH looks super consistent

The bowling of the Sunrisers Hyderabad is what the fans have been able to witness over a few years. The strike bowler of SRH is still the experienced Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

He is not fit as of now but should be looking to regain fitness before IPL 2020. Khaleel Ahmad did well during the 2019 season and will look up to continue in the same domain for his Team.

Siddharth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma and Basil Thampi are 3 pacers who look experienced that can support Khaleel and Bhuvi. Vijay Shankar is also another player who can pitch in with few overs when needed.

The bowling of SRH looks super consistent

Mitchell Marsh of Australia can offer more base with his pace. Billy Stanlake has been in the squad for a quite a while now, who can add further to the bench. Besides, T.Natarajan is an option with his medium pace.

Rashid Khan leads the pack in the spin department, and he should be looking to carry on with all the experience that he brings in. Shahbaz Nadeem should be offering him able support provided they both play in the playing XI at a time. Mohammed Nabi can also be a sensation that may look up to make the most of the given chances.

What are the weaknesses of SRH?

The ban of Shakib-Al-Hasan has weakened the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and his inputs with the ball and bat would surely be missed. Marsh and Nabi may not get many games as front 3 players are fixed, along with Rashid being a sure-shot inclusion. The Team seems like missing on a finisher.

The side also looks over-dependent on the top order to get the crucial runs, and if they fail in a big match, then the side may lose out.

On the other hand, the middle hand of the SRH also lacks meat and does not have the luxury of being in a position to force the result of a game on its own.

Our verdict – SRH looks certain booking a play-off berth in IPL 2020

The bowling unit of the Sunrisers Hyderabad is its major draw with even Indian options. They can provide the Team with variety when needed.

But the presence of Bhuvi means a lot about how the overall bowling unit will perform. Rashid Khan will also be looked upon to play his part.

The batting contingent of the Sunrisers Hyderabad also looks super solid with the likes of Warner, Bairstow and Williamson being relied upon to score most of the runs. Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar are also crucial to provide consistency and sheen to the Team.

Overall, going by the recent show of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the side has in it to take it past the line in the IPL’s Group stage. They look certain to make it to the play-offs if they address some bits and pieces in the side here and there.
