The Indian cricket team dealt with a major blow ahead of the India vs Bangladesh ODI series as their star pacer Mohammad Shami is ruled out. Shami suffered a shoulder injury and will be missing the ODI series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to begin from tomorrow.

Umran Malik who was in fine form in his debut series against New Zealand, has been roped in to the side as a replacement. Malik took 3 wickets against the Kiwis and bowled the hard lengths for the batters. His express pace is his USP and India would be hoping to use that to their advantage.

However, the sub-continent wickets always favour the spinners and the likes of Washington Sundar and Axar Patel would be key to India’s chances. The absence of Mohammad Shami means that Deepak Chahar and Mohammad Siraj are sure-starters in the playing XI. India might also go in with Shardul Thakur as their third pacer. Thakur is a very dynamic player and can contribute with the bat as well.

Mohammad Shami took to micro-blogging platform Twitter to post a very emotional tweet about his injury.

“Injury, in general, teaches you to appreciate every moment. I’ve had my share of injuries throughout my career. It’s humbling. It gives you perspective. No matter how many times I’ve been hurt, I’ve learned from that injury and come back even more stronger,” read Shami’s Tweet.
