The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the lineup for the opening Test of a two-match series against the Indian National Cricket Team on Thursday, December 8.

The first Test match of the series will be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from December 14 to 18 while the second Test will be played from December 22 to 26 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

The Bangladesh squad for the first test against India will be led by Shakib Al Hasan. Tamim Iqbal is sidelined due to an injury that has kept him out of ODIs. Meanwhile, great pacer Taskin Ahmed, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim, and Yasir Ali have been recalled for the first Test against India, while left-handed batsman Zakir Hasan has received his first call-up.

The senior wicketkeeper-batter was not selected for Bangladesh’s last Test series against the West Indies. Mushfiqur Rahim had opted out of the series to do Hajj, while Yasir Ali and top pacer Taskin were also injured.

Abhimanyu Easwaran likely to join the squad

Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran is expected to travel with the India team as Rohit Sharma’s injury replacement for the upcoming two-match Test series in Bangladesh. On Wednesday, Rohit injured his thumb while fielding in the slip cordon against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Easwaran has scored successive centuries while leading an India A squad in a two-match unofficial Test series against Bangladesh A at Sylhet.
