2) The Rock beating Hulk Hogan
With the original plan of Steve Austin vs Hulk Hogan being nixed, WWF came to the solution for The Rock to go one on one with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X-8 in Toronto and the solution not only exceeded the expectations of the office but it did show how important are people in any wrestling match.
Hulk Hogan came back to WWF with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash as The nWo at No Way Out 2002. Since that show, the build-up was overall nWo beating The Rock and Steve Austin. This build-up gave us The Rock vs Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin vs Scott Hall. As much as Steve Austin vs Scott Hall is forgettable, Hulk Hogan vs The Rock is that much rememberable.
The Toronto crowd was on both sides similar to Hogan and Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI. There was not decisive support from people as all people were so loud anyone could not figure out that the crowd was on whose side. The match was so electric that people were into it from the moment Hogan came down to the ring to the moment The Rock and Hogan both left the arena at the same time.
The match is billed as “ICON VS ICON”, The Rock beating the icon is a memory that no one would ever forget, and being the only few people to beat Hulk Hogan clean is really amazing as only a few people had the fortune of that.
