Shahid Afridi is known for making bold statements in the public domain and now he has again attracted the limelight by stating that the Taliban has taken over Afghanistan with a positive approach. And, this statement coming from former Pakistan players has given birth to an unwanted controversy.

Shahid Afridi has already bid adieu to international cricket. But, he is still playing in different leagues across the globe. Last, he was spotted playing in the Pakistan Super League 2021. Now, he has dropped a big hint of signing out from all forms of cricket.

Shahid Afridi gives controversial statement in media

Afridi holds several accolades to his name in international cricket and is reckoned as one of the best all-rounders of cricket history. But, he too often attracted controversy due to his controversial statements in the media. And, the is once again in the headlines for giving support to Taliban.

In an interview, Shahid Afridi said that Taliban, who have captured Afghanistan, have come up with a positive approach. As per him, ladies are being allowed to work. Also, they have shown their support to sports like cricket.

“Taliban have come with a very positive mind. They’re allowing ladies to work. And I believe Taliban like cricket a lot. Taliban is giving jobs to ladies, supporting cricket, and the cricket series against Pakistan as well. Taliban is very positive towards cricket,” Afridi told the media in Pakistan on Monday as reported by DNA.

During the same interview, he revealed his wish to play his last Pakistan Super League season for Quetta Gladiators before retiring from all forms of cricket.

“Maybe this ends up being my last PSL. I would like to play for Quetta Gladiators this season, provided Multan allows me to leave. If Nadeem Omar and Quetta’s owners want to have me, I would love to represent them,” Afridi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
