The Premier League that we know of today was formed in 1992. Formerly, the top division of English football was called the English Football League and the change was brought in to make the English league more marketable in the eyes of a worldwide audience.

The current champions of the Premier League are Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (5th title in 2020/21).

Liverpool is the club that stands out along with Manchester United in this list. Though Liverpool has just 1 Premier League title which they won in the 2019/20 season, the club has a total of 19 League titles (including the Premier league 19/20). Before this, the club had won 18 League titles in the English Football League era.

Manchester United has the most number of league titles in England with 13 Premier League and 7 English Football League titles bringing up a grand total of 20 League titles.

Managers to win the Most league titles:

There have been a lot of legendary managers in the premier league that has managed to win the league title. Sir Alex Ferguson leads this list by winning 13 league titles with Manchester United, which incidentally includes every league title that United has won in the Premier League era.

Manager won premier league title with 2 different clubs

Not yet, It is very surprising that no manager has yet managed to win the premier league title at 2 different clubs in the Premier League era.

Kenny Dalglish famously has won the English Football League title with Liverpool and the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers.

In the Premier League era Jose Mourinho has come the closest, winning the Premier League thrice with Chelsea and finishing runner-up in 2017/18 at his time with Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United’s iconic 13-time Premier League-winning manager is probably the greatest Manager the Premier League has ever seen. Under his watchful eyes, Manchester United dominated the 1990’s and the 2000’s. Every player that has played under him has spoken out about how much of a father figure he is. He even officially got knighted by the Queen of England hence giving him the title ‘Sir’.

Sir Alex retired as a manager in 2012/13 ending his 26-year career as Manchester United manager right at the top of the League, as a Champion!

Arsene Wenger

The Frenchman, Arsene Wenger is an Icon to Arsenal FC and the Premier League. He joined The Gunners in 1996 and brought instant success to the club. Under his guidance, the club always played in Europe. The Frenchman led Arsenal to three premier league titles as the club became arch-rivals to Manchester United in that era.

His biggest accomplishment was in the 2003-04 season where Arsenal won “The Golden Premier League”, winning the League without losing a single game in the entire season. He ended his reign at the club in 2018.

Jose Mourinho

Chelsea’s Iconic manager Jose Mourinho is another manager who has won the league 3 times. ‘The Special One as he is branded by his beloved fans and media has been one of the best Managers ever in the premier league. His iconic rivalry with Arsene Wenger will stand the test of time.

A true Premier League legend, he has managed three clubs in the Premiership namely, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspurs. His playing style of defending and counter-attacking is now being followed by many managers around the world. Currently the Portuguese is managing Italian Club AS Roma.

Pep Guardiola

Another Modern Footballing great is Pep Guardiola. He has already guided Manchester City to three league titles and may very well add more to his resume in the coming seasons. Guardiola is known for his possession-based football style which he has followed since he was a manager at FC Barcelona.

Being the current Premier League holders, Manchester City are again favorites to win the next Premier League title in 2021/22.

Claudio Ranieri

In 2016, Claudio Ranieri did the unthinkable. He and his Leicester City squad managed to win the Premier League titles with odds over 1/2000. He instilled belief in his squad that it was quite a possible feat and led the foxes to glory. Ranieri is one of the reasons why every club outside the “Historic Top 6” believes that they have got a chance to challenge the big boys and go for the Title.

He even had a tenure at Chelsea in the 2000s but it’s safe to say that he will forever be remembered for his time at Leicester City.

Giggs has amassed 632 appearances and has won 13 league titles all with Manchester United in his historic premier league Career. He is only second to Gareth Barry in terms of premier league appearances. Playing at the heart of the Manchester United midfield, he has scored 109 goals and provided 162 assists in the Premier League alone.

Alan Shearer

Representing Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, Alan Shearer is one of the legends of the Premier league. He holds the record for most goals scored, scoring 260 goals in 441 appearances in the Premier League. He has won the 1994-95 League title playing for the Blackburn Rovers.

John Terry

Chelsea’s Iconic Captain-Leader-Legend is probably the greatest defender yet in the league. John Terry is the most successful captain in the premier league, leading the Blues to five Premier League titles.

John Terry has kept 214 clean sheets in the 492 appearances that he made in the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United’s Iconic Number 10 is another star of the Premier League. In 491 Premier League appearances, Wayne Rooney has scored 208 goals and provided 103 assists. He scored a deadly goal-scoring duo with Cristiano Ronaldo in his early career that is still considered one of the best duo’s in the league.

Sergio Aguero

That ‘Agueroooooooooo!’ goal is probably the most memorable moment in Premier Leagues history. The Argentine forward scored in probably the last kick of the game to win Manchester City their first league title in 2011/12.

He is arguably Manchester City’s most legendary player yet winning the League title 5 times and also scoring 184 goals for the Citizens in the process.
