Bollywood Actors interested in buying IPL team ahead of mega-auction

If reports are to be believed then power couple of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh seems to be interested in buying an IPL team. There are numerous companies in line, who will bid to buy the rights of a team in the cash-rich league. But, they will be expected to the strict criteria mentioned by BCCI that a buyer needs to qualify before getting eligible for the golden opportunity.

A close source to BCCI revealed that the cricket board might not be interested in giving the rights of a team to any foreign company. But, anything can happen in the last moments

“The BCCI is not keen to give the rights to an off-shore company and will prefer Indian buyers but power equations can change the script dramatically,” the source was quoted as saying, Outlook reported.

Meanwhile, a bidder revealed that the bid is already closed and he expects fairness as well as a transparent procedure from BCCI. As per him, everything looks set but the only thing that can create some noise is the verification and elimination of buyers during the whole process.

“Although it is a closed bid, we are expecting a fair and transparent process. The only hodgepodge could happen in the verification/elimination stage but it is unlikely BCCI will adopt unfair means to favor particular companies,” a bidder said on conditions of anonymity.

Team India is currently in UAE and they are set to open their T20 World Cup campaign on 24th October. And, BCCI is expected to announce the buyer’s name of the two new IPL teams on 25th October.
